World of wearable art

I’ve just got back from a lovely few days in Wellington. The main purpose of going up there being the “WOW” world of wearable arts show.

P9030530

If you have never been to it, or never heard of it then it is quite difficult to describe.

The idea was to take art and combine it with fashion….and for artists to produce “wearable art” without any restrictions on being commercially viable or practical.

It has a become a two hour show, without words but full of music dance and of course gorgeous costumes.  Above is the costume on display at the wellington airport, called dragon fish.

Here is a link to the web site for wearable arts.

This years winner was…

Hylonome,-Mary-Wing-To,-United-Kingdom_preview

this gorgeous costume in the open section.

and the runner up was

Hide-In-My-Bone-Shadow,-Marjolein-van-der-Wal,-Netherlands_preview

This fantastic costume in the “under the microscope section

but our favourite was probably this one

Reflection,-Erna-&-Karl-Van-Der-Wat,-Auckland-lr_preview

but anyway go to the home page and take a look at the video clips of the show. and if you get a chance I really recommend you go.
